Broome Coral Trout

Picture: Did you know? Coral trout all start off as females initially, but change sex to males with time. This may seem crazy to us but it can be common among fish. (Photo courtesy of Dylan Picken.)

Gino Chambers landed an estimated 50kg black marlin on Sunday. Sailfish continue to be caught in good numbers in waters between eight and 12 miles off Gantheaume Point and wide of Willie Creek. Big schools of mack tuna have also been encountered by those targeting billfish together with a few Spanish mackerel and longtail tuna.

Bryce Marinis picked up bluebone, coral trout and rankin cod in less than 12m of water off Quandong last week. Threadfin salmon remain in good numbers in Roebuck Bay and at Coconut Wells. The local creeks have been fishing well for threadfin and bluenose salmon.
