Exmouth Giant Trevally

Young angler Josh Minema landed a superb 15kg yellowfin tuna while targeting marlin on trolled garfish off Tantabiddi last week. Spanish mackerel have been responding well to bibbed minnows trolled in 15 to 30m of water along the back of the reef line. Giant trevally to 30kg have been caught on big poppers and stick baits near the white water and similar size fish should start to turn up more regularly close to shore. Queenfish to a metre and varieties of small trevally are common along the west coast accesses. The marina is providing some entertainment for young fishers on school holidays with yellowfin bream, mangrove jack, trevally and estuary cod on offer.
