Exmouth Sailfish

Pictured: Sailfish

Gingin fisher Jimmy Morton, his nine-year-old son Lachie and a couple of friends, Murray Teasdale and Jason Browning, landed a superb sailfish and a black marlin off the west coast last week. Giant trevally enthusiasts have been enticing plenty of fish between 15 and 30kg and the occasional bigger specimen on big poppers and stick baits near the west coast reefs.

Small trevally and queenfish are frequenting the west coast and gulf beaches. Students on school holidays have been picking up an assortment of species including mangrove jack, estuary cod, queenfish, trevally and yellowfin bream at the marina.
